Premium-built timber paling fences start from $185 per metre including GST. Horizontal slat, Coloursteel and pool fences are quoted after a free measure. Height, length, gates, sloping ground, access and removing an old fence all affect the final price.
Under the Fencing Act 1978, neighbours generally share the cost of an adequate boundary fence equally. Most people agree it informally. If you can’t, you can serve a fencing notice, and your neighbour has 21 days to respond. We can give you a written quote to share with your neighbour.
Ordinary fences up to 2.5 m high don’t need building consent. Pool fences usually do. Auckland Council zone rules can still limit fence height, especially on front boundaries, so we check your zone before quoting.
Pool barriers must meet Building Code clause F9: generally at least 1.2 m high, with no gaps or footholds a child could climb, and gates that self-close, self-latch and open away from the pool. A new pool fence usually needs building consent, and Auckland Council inspects pool barriers every three years.
A well-built timber fence with H4 posts in concrete, H3.2 rails and palings and galvanised or stainless fixings typically lasts 15 to 20 years or more. Staining every few years helps it last longer and keep its colour.
