It depends on the size, the timber, whether it has a roof and whether it’s built with a deck. We price every pergola after a free site visit and give you a fixed written quote.
Most open, freestanding pergolas don’t need building consent. Adding a solid roof, building a larger structure or attaching it to the house can change that. We check the rules for your job at the site visit and include any consent costs in the quote.
Often, yes. The deck frame has to be strong enough to carry the posts, or the posts need their own footings. We check the frame at the site visit and tell you honestly what is needed.
Treated pine suited to outdoor use, or hardwood for a premium look. Near the coast we use stainless fixings. We talk you through the options and the upkeep at the quote stage.
Yes. Clear or tinted roofing panels give rain cover while letting light through. Slatted battens or shade sails give shade without full cover. Gutters are added so water runs where it should.
A typical freestanding timber pergola takes a few days on site, depending on size, roofing and weather. If it’s built with a new deck, it’s done as part of that job.
